Louis du Tillet

Parish priest of Claix in Poitou, canon and archdeacon of Angoulême; brother of Jean du Tillet, the famous clerk at the parliament of Paris, and of that other du Tillet who became bishop of Saint-Brieuc and Meaux. Under the name of Haulmont, he resigned his priesthood of Claix to follow Calvin to Strasbourg, Basel and Italy.

Brother of Louis du Tillet, later raised to the honors of the episcopate. Educated in ancient languages and sacred archaeology, he was entrusted with various scientific missions by Francis I, and visited Geneva on one of his trips.

Jean Trolliet

Jean Trolliet was a native of Geneva who first became a hermit in Burgundy, and lived in affectation of sanctity. He returned to Geneva shortly afterwards and sought the office of minister, from which he was driven away by the influence of Calvin, towards whom he had an irreconcilable hatred.
