Presentation of the contents : This manuscript contains essentially letters from Calvin to Jacques de Bourgogne, lord of Falais and Bredam, and to his wife Yolande de Brederode. These letters amount to 57 [...].
BACKGROUND : According to the handwritten inventory of Théophile Dufour, the publisher who printed a great part of these letters in Amsterdam, in 1744, sent them to the Library of Geneva after their printing. In 1748, César de Missy sent four more, two as originals and two as copies (these are two copies of letters from Calvin to M. de Falaix, copies made by César de Missy and sent to Jean-Pierre Cromelin, professor of history at the Academy, for the Library of Geneva in 1748. These two copies are not part of the letters printed in Amsterdam in 1744). He had the two originals from Mr. Jennet, of Utrecht, who kept the originals of the other two.
