About the project

John Calvin : French Correspondence was carried out as part of the thesis project for the Master's degree in Rare Books and Digital Humanities of the University of Franche-Comté, Besançon, France from 2020-2022.

The project was born out of my interest in this little-known personality, particularly in the Spanish-speaking world, especially with regard to the man behind the personality of Calvin and his relationships with others. As a result of recurring conflicts in the churches of Cuba - where I am from - related to the doctrine of John Calvin, I wanted to better understand the man behind the doctrine, his thoughts and discourse. When the opportunity arose to study in France, I decided to follow this reflection in order to be able to participate in this debate in a documented way. Moreover, the master's program that hosted me, in Besançon, is located very close to Geneva, the city where Calvin founded the Calvinist community and whose influence is still felt nowadays.

I hope that through his words you will discover the man behind the personality of John Calvin.
